The transdermal contraceptive patch, after its arrival in the year 2002, soon turned out to become one among the most popular birth controlling options in the US alone. Like OCs (Combination Oral Contraceptives), the contraceptive patch is very effective and quickly reversible. The patch was actually designed for mimicking the hormonal reaction of a 35 ?g OC and arrives with numbers of same merits and demerits. It is assumed that the patch will acquire many same contraceptive as well as non contraceptive advantages allied with OCs.

The best thing about the patch is the fact that it’s once a week administration and indeed it’s the main reason why many people usually prefer to go with this option. Of course, there are also a couple of side effects arriving with this treatment option. And when it comes to its most frequent side effects, some of them include nausea, headaches, breast discomfort, and application site reaction.

The contraceptive patch includes 0.75 mg of ethinyl estradiol (EE) and 6 mg of norelgestromin, and was actually designed in order to release 150 ?g norelgestromin and 20 ?g EE to the blood stream via the skin at the gap of every 24 hours. For your kind information, Norelgestromin is a primary active metabolite generated following the oral administration of the norgestimate.

Following the application, EE and norelgestromin soon appear in circulation and arrive at steady state levels just within 48 hours. Much to your surprise, these levels can be higher or lower than therapeutic reference ranges that are developed for OrthoCyclen (25–75 pg/mL and 0.6–1.2 ng/mL, respectively).

Moreover, therapeutic levels of EE and norelgestromin are managed for the seven days of the routine patch wear and during two additional days of the extended wear. When it comes to the half life of EE and norelgestromin, it is 17 hours and 28 hours respectively.

Transdermally administered norelgestromin doesn’t overturn the stimulatory affect of the EE on SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globulin), which results in significant increment in SHBG following patch administration as well as some other kind of hepatic proteins.

• You should find a position you’re comfortable with before your insert the female condom into your vagina. Sitting on a chair’s edge with your knees apart, lying down, or sitting on the toilet can be the prefect position place for you.

• Ensure that the internal ring is down at the tube’s closed end. Actually, the internal ring is slightly smaller and thicker compared to the external ring.

• For making easier while inserting the condom, you can add one or two droop of additional lubricant to the external portion of pouch’s closed end. Keep in mind that excess lubricant may create difficulty in grasping the ring firmly.

• Squeeze down the sides of inner ring together for making it narrow enough to enter into your vagina. You might find some easiness in this task if you squeeze it in between your middle finger and thumb, with your index finger on the ring’s top to assist in holding it steady.

• By using your other hand, spread your vagina’s inner and outer lips. After that, insert the inner ring that has been squeezed. If you feel as your vagina is a bit dried, you then may require adding some extra lubricant to condom or to your vagina’s entrance. In case it slips off your hands, let it go and start once again. As the condoms are lubricated well, you can manage these all in a bit difficulty.

• Push the pouch and the inner ring into your vagina to the last point it can reach. For your kind information, vaginas are around 2, 2.5 to 4 inches long. If you want to quit it up with ease, then you better pursue the back and lower wall of your vagina with the squeezed ring until and unless it stops.

• When the condom is placed at the proper area, it covers the cervix and you should feel your cervix through it after you finish inserting the condom. If you find that you’re not so comfortable with the condom, then remove it and try once again. Of course, it takes a while and a bit practice for inserting it in behind the pubic bone as well as over the cervix.

Effectiveness

According to the laboratory tests conducted over polyurethane that is used in production of Reality condom as well as Avanti male condom, it has been proven that STDs including Hepatitis B and AIDS viruses are unable to go through the polyurethane. After conducting the research regarding the female condom’s effectiveness, it was found that the alternative is as good as other barrier options out there such as the diaphragm, the male condom, or the cervical cap in providing safely against the pregnancy.

The accidental pregnancy rate during the six month period is from 2.6 % (for the women who prefer using condom in proper way and for each sexual intercourse) to 12.4% (for usual, less-than-best use). In order to arrive at a failure rate of a 12 month, the FDA dual the rates from a 6-month study: the rate of failure for the perfect users is presently listed as 5% and, for as 21% for the typical users.

It has also been illustrated by the clinical researches regarding the effectiveness of the female condom that the risk of having HIV AIDS among women is highly reduce by perfect using manner of this condom. It is believed that among the women having sexual intercourse at least twice a week with a HIV infected partner, the overall risk of having the same infection could be diminishes by around 90%.

Health effects

Since polyurethane instead of latex is used throughout the production of Reality Condom, it is the best choice for those who are allergic when it comes to latex rubber. Additionally, it doesn’t need a spermicide usage, and this is why it’s attractive for those who are facing difficulties due to the ingredients that are used in spermicides of today.

Although polyurethane doesn’t irrigate as latex does to one’s penis or vagina, there is always a bit chances of occurrence of such irritations. If the polyurethane condom is used in frequent manner, it might sensitize some persons to the material. However, this issue has been extremely rare, so far. Mild pain and itching are its popular symptoms.

At present, there is existence of just a singe version of female condom all over the market .i.e. The Reality Female Condom. These condoms are very soft, long pouch or loose fitting tube which is made by extremely thin, transparent, strong polyurethane, that diameter is around 3 inches and around 6-7 inches long. It highly resembles to a miniature wind sock. It is actually designed for lining the vagina’s inner contours and provides protection to a women against the sperm as well as virus and bacteria that are responsible for causing disease, including HIV AIDS.

There is narrow, flexible ring at both sides of the female condom. The pretty smaller ring that is inside the closed end assists to locate that end all the way over the cervix and for holding it there. In fact, the open end ring remains outside of the vagina and it serves as the gateway to penis. Alike the man condom, use of a condom more than once is avoided in the female condom as well.

Since polyurethane is used for production of the female condom, they are stronger compared to latex, and don’t tear that easily as latex condoms or develop the tiny holes. Oil based lotions and creams also don’t cause negative impact over it and is far less susceptible to the deterioration that heat exposure or length storage result to. Alike the Avanti condom, it also gains ability to transfers the body heat at ease that means it feels soft and warm quickly and allows more sensation.

However, the Reality condom may create more noise if the lubricant present inside is not spread uniformly all the way around outer end. Moreover, if the intercourse tends to take more time, the lubrication can get used up and this may result in dryness of the polyurethane.

Never start intercourse until and unless the vagina is properly lubricated.

It’s the natural process that a women’s vagina automatically lubricates when she is sexually stimulated. The chances of tearing of condom are many if there is not slipperiness during sexual intercourse. If you’re wearing a latex condom and need more lubrication, you can use water, diaphragms made gel, the spermicidal cream, or lubricating jelly K-Y jelly. They are usually sold in family planning or feminine hygiene section of the drugstores. These packages are usually promoted to be totally oil free and are made for being used with a condom or diaphragm. If you’re confused regarding any product, you can remove your doubt by analyzing the ingredients’ list on the package. In case you find out that the condom is slipping off, you better stop and check it properly. Replace the condom if it’s necessary, but keep in mind, purchase a different brand condom next time.

After ejaculation, remove the condom from your penis because if you’ll not do so, the condom may slip off and the sperm probably spill out. Withdraw the condom slowly from your partner’s vagina by holding the condom’s rim against the penis’s base. Remove the condom cautiously, away from the genital area of your partner. Wrap it up in a tissue properly and throw the condom away.

There are several things possible to be done for preventing against the pregnancy in case the condom, slips, leaks, or breaks. If you’ve the spermicide handy, insert an applicator full with it inside the vagina as soon as possible if it’s not too late. There isn’t any guarantee against infection or pregnancy, but it does offer some safety nevertheless. Consult with your trusted doctor or local family planning clinic regarding the emergency contraception as soon as possible. Actually, Emergency contraception is using the high doses of conventional contraceptive pills within 72 hours after having sexual intercourse. Although it’s secure and effective as well, it should never be prefer without consulting a health care professional. If you try it without any doctor’s prescription, then you may have to undergo several cases that you don’t want to face with.

• Never try to open a condom package tearing by your teeth because you could also tear out the condom inside as well.

• If you’re not so familiar with the condoms, it’s a great idea for you to practice putting one condom on before you require it. It’s possible for you to practice on cylinder shaped objects like banana or slim cucumber as well as at an erect penis.

• A condom always arrives being rolled up inside a package. It should be unrolled up through the erect penis. If you’re not circumcised, you better pull the foreskin back before wearing a condom. If you notice that condom doesn’t unroll at ease, maybe you’re wearing it backwards. Keep in mind that rolled up rim must be on the external part of condom.

• If you’ve mistakenly unrolled a condom in the improper way, then you better don’t try to prefer using it. Get a new one for you instead of the wrongly unrolled one.

• If the condom that you’re using doesn’t acquire a reservoir tip, grasp around half inch of the tip of the condom between two fingers and roll it with another hand. This helps in making sure that there is a room at tip for the semen and reduces the chance a condom will be break, stress or overflow if it’s full.

• Keep the penis far away from the touch of vagina until and unless the condom is placed securely. Keep in mind that even a drop of semen that may leak from penis before the ejaculation can result in pregnancy or carry STDs including HIV.

• Don’t forget to keep at least 1 or 2 extra condoms in stock for additional backup.

Never use a condom that has already been used once. This is the most significant rule in condoms’ successful use. A normal man gains ability to generate millions of active, healthy sperm each day, and the supply hardy diminishes due to constant ejaculations. It doesn’t matter how may time you’ve sex, all the time you should prefer using a brand new condom.

When it comes to condoms, they are generally manufactured in the identical basic shape. The most standard size of the male condom available in market out there measure any where from 6 to 8 inches in length and are around 2 inches in their diameter. Most of the condoms aren’t sold according to their size because they are usually extremely flexible, and it’s not necessary for them to arrive with certain size as they exactly fit in almost every penis. However, large sized male condoms are offered by several different brands. If a condom appears to be too tight or too loose, or you’re facing problem of slipping off the condoms, then you better prefer trying the condoms of some other brands out there until you’ll be able to get a condom exactly fit to you.

Majority of condoms offering by several brands are usually not so expensive, and it is worth to experiment with several different brands if it creates a difference in your feeling while using them. When it comes to latex condoms, they are readily available and they are among the least expensive ones. You’ll probably be offered with more sensation while having sexual intercourse with extra thin latex condoms, but you should handle this type of condom in proper manner because they can also tear at ease.

On the other hand, some other condoms that were promoted to be extra “stronger” are proven to be not that stronger compared to others when the consumers tested them.

Latex condoms gain ability to glow at the dark and available in various flavors. They are brightly colored and may not be as secured as ordinary condoms available in market. The coloring or flavoring process may have an adverse impact on the latex condoms’ quality. If you’re interested to prefer these condoms, you better don’t forget to thoroughly read the labels for informative details regarding the protection against pregnancy and diseases.

Many women step backwards when it comes to preferring birth control pills as taking pills seems like an unnatural method for controlling birth. Some women experience bloating, mood swing, weigh gain, breakthrough bleeding, breast tenderness or pain, depression, headaches, nausea, and lowered libido after preferring birth control pills.

However, some other women may have some significant and serous side effects such as blood clots, hair loss, heart attack, high blood pressure, and elevated liver enzymes. At present, there are numerous varieties of birth control pills, and luckily most of them are significantly lower in dose and result in extremely fewer side effects compared to those of past.

The pills differ in their progestin and estrogen dosages and include several different types of progestin and estrogens. One may tolerate first pill very poorly and another extremely well. There are several different side effects that arrive with progestin, and there are presently 6 different types of progestin that can be explore in a variety of birth control pills. There are numerous pills with several different estrogen doses too.

Overall, women should access their feeling over the oral hormonal contraceptives. Some women are a bit moody in their nature, and some are less so. Some women adore their periods’ regularity and their decreased pain, while others feel bloated and nauseous. Some really feel great and have extremely low risk for most of the diseases and the hormones can suitably fits in a healthy life for them.

The pill is not actually the natural mean of controlling birth, but for some women, the merits outweigh the entire downside. If you’re planning to prefer choosing birth control pills, then remember that one merit to the barrier methods of the contraception (condoms, FemCap, diaphragm) is that it result in reduction of incidence of the STIs (sexually transmitted infections), especially the pelvic inflammatory disease.

Most STIs are not significantly protected by the Oral contraceptives. The best and perfect method of contraception offering a “safer sex” way is the Condoms. FemCap and Diaphragms don’t offer the safer sex, but they may assist in stopping the STIs from ascending unnecessarily into uterus and the pelvic areas.

The maximum priority has always been given to the relationship that is between the pills and breast cancer. However, with the pace of time and enhancement in technology, some answers are slowly emerging. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) conducted a research in the 1980s entitled as the “Cancer and Steroid Hormone Study”. In this research, they studied about 5,000 breast cancer’s cases and 5,000 healthy women and stated that there wasn’t increased risk of the breast cancer among the women who preferred using the pills.

A current meta analysis which revisited the oral contraceptives and the breast cancer’s risk, published in October of 2006, stated that oral contraceptives are responsible for increasing the risk of being suffered with the premenopausal breast cancer. 34 case-control studies of premenopausal breast cancer and oral contraceptives throughout or after the 1980s were identified. The results of these studies exhibited that the breast cancer’s risk was vaguely increased for both parous (have already given birth one or more times) and nulliparous (have never given birth before) women.

The usage of pill for long duration didn’t significantly affect the risk among the nulliparous women. Whereas, when it comes to parous women, the increased risk was more considerable when uses of oral contraceptives were done before the very first and full term pregnancy. Parous women preferring pill for 4 or more years before their very first and full pregnancy were under the greater risk circle. There are numerous limitations arriving with this sort of review due to the presence of so many variables, including possible recall bias, race, difference in age of first preferring the pill, and deprived information on time the pills were last used. Overall, it seems as there are not any evidence illustrating that lifetime risk of being suffered with breast cancer in women arrive with the usage of oral contraceptives.

Before you decide to use or go against BCPs, you first need to consider the risk for your breast cancer (although majority of women suffering with breast cancer are not inside the risky circle, and most of them who are at risk usually don’t get it).

Intrauterine devices actually lie under a contraceptive class, and perhaps they are highest efficacy and least invasive form of the birth control. Rumors continue that there was a gold ring in the uterus of Cleopatra and that allows her to get prevented from the pregnancy and offer her a healthy and active love life. And it is also said that the camel drivers in the same era use to put small rocks in the uteruses of their camels for preventing their camels from pregnancy on the long roads they’ve traveled. Maybe they are nothing more than pretty good stories, but for those women seeking methods to stop their pregnancy can prefer IUDs. IUDs are absolutely simple, high effective, reversible, affordable and have a least impact on primary physiological processes.

The Modern IUDs started to gain popularity in the early 1960s, when the Lippes Loop was introduced and during that period, about 10% of women using contraceptives prefer choosing this method. You can still found Lippes Loops all across the globe except in the U.S. At present, there are very few IUDs available in the U.S. and the main reason behind is that the manufactures of today don’t want to take even a single chance over a device that has once become so out of favor. IUDs enables the menstrual flow to turn out much heavier and increases cramping. However, this method requiring no mess or loss of spontaneity is for those women who are with light or moderate menses, and it’s possible to prefer IUDs for the years without losing the efficacy. Women with monogamous relationships that are not inside the risky circle of any sexually transmitted infections and already have given birth are the prefect nominees for preferring IUD, but their period should also be normal.

At present, the latest IUD called Mirena has been introduced as the exception of the earlier believe that IUDs are responsible for increasing the amount of menstrual flow as well as cramping. It gains ability to diminish the normal flow by 80% and results in lack of menses in about 15% of patients. Most women preferring Mirena report just light cramping and nothing more than that.

It’s not that necessary to mention that many women are interested to track down their basal body temperature when their conceiving period arrives. Basal body temperature actually refers to your body’s temperature when your body is at resting period. You can determine your ovulating period simply by slight changes in your body temperature.

If you want to check your basal body temperature, you should first get a basal thermometer for you. Since the temperature changes so slightly that a normal thermometer will not that effective to tell you about the changes of temperature that have taken place in your body. You’ll have to measure as well as record your basal body temperature in a regular basis down to the 10th of a degree. Some women will see change in full degree, but most will only experience the change of about 0.4 degree Fahrenheit.

If one want to undergo her basal body temperature checkup. She should record her temperature as soon as she woke up early in the morning before doing anything else. Tracing down these temperatures regularly over a couple of months will exhibit a proper pattern of the ovulation. Many women begin checking their basal body temperature during the very first day of their menstrual period, but it’s possible for you to get started at the real time. If you’re ovulating as usual, you then should notice a change about 14th day of your cycle. The temperature may fall a little (usually about ½ a degree) soon after ovulation. Egg release probably takes place a day before the elevation and it continues until the menses. Elevation that is longer than the expected twelve to fourteen days generally indicates the pregnancy.

The changes in your basal body temperature are resulted by changes in hormone levels. Sperm can remain for a couple of days inside your vagina or uterus, so having sexual intercourse before ovulation will assist in ensuring that your egg is going to encounter the sperm. If you’re intending to avoid pregnancy, you then must abstain from sexual intercourse for around a week before the ovulation. Keep in mind that several things including medication, lifestyle, environment, illness, and diet can changes on the day you ovulate, so you should be aware of this fact.

When it comes to Calendar methods, they hit the first rank among the earliest birth control schemes of all the times. With calendar methods, you’ve extremely high chances of getting pregnant. The calendar methods perform by determining the possible day of ovulation in accompany with assistance of the doctor. For this purpose, a woman should keep her menstrual cycle record for a year or more and the doctor will be able to locate the “safe” and “unsafe” days by analyzing the record.

The method actually relies on the women who have a regular 28 day cycle along with the ovulation that takes place exactly on 14th day midcycle. It’s absolutely necessary to avoid the intercourse for at least 3 days before and 3 days after the ovulation 11th day through 17th day at least, and optimally 7 days earlier and at least 4 days after. If this sort of regularity is not standard over a woman’s cycle, then it would be helpful to prefer another calendar method that takes cycle variance into its account.

First of all, accumulate the entire necessary details regarding the cycle length and first this purpose, you should take sufficient enough time for tracing out how wide actually the range is. It’s necessary for you to gain knowledge about the longest and shortest length of cycle that you experience 1st day being the very first of menses, and the last day being the one soon before the menses continues. Deduct 20 from the shortest length of cycle in order to get the very first day of fertility (4th day in the 24 days cycle). Deduct 10 from the longest length of cycle for getting the last day of fertility (22nd day in the 32 days cycle). Therefore, a woman undergoing cycles that range from 25-30 days have to avoid the intercourse from 5th day to 20th day. (25 _ 20 _ 5 and 30 _ 10 _ 20). In nutshell, with calendar methods, you need to keep the written record of each of your cycle and you’ll be able to determine where your conceiving chances is more by the help of that record.
